atorvastatin calcium is made in tablet form by generic drug makers under various brand names including Atoris, Atorlip, Lipvas, Sortis, Torvast, Torvacard, Totalip, and Tulip.

And I did, finding that Lipitor's patent runs out June of 2011, Phizer has made a side deal with a generic manufacturer to postpone introduction until 11/2011??? Of course my "authority" is Wikipedia, so take that with a grain of salt. The other generics mentioned above are apparently authorized in other countries which don't recognize our patent time tables. Incidentally, my 40mg X 90 prescription costs $421.69 with insurance paying $295.69 of that here in the US.
At a Canadian pharmacy on the web the same drug dose and strength costs $213 (canadian?) for Lipitor or $114 (Canadian?) for their generic, which they apparently have no trouble with.
