Ousted USDA employee Sherrod plans to sue blogger

Ousted Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod said Thursday she will sue a conservative blogger who posted a video edited in a way that made her appear racist.

Sherrod was forced to resign last week as director of rural development in Georgia after Andrew Breitbart posted the edited video online. In the full video, Sherrod, who is black, spoke to a local NAACP group about racial reconciliation and overcoming her initial reluctance to help a white farmer.

Speaking Thursday at the National Association of Black Journalists convention, Sherrod said she would definitely sue over the video that took her remarks out of context. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has since offered Sherrod a new job in the department. She has not decided whether to accept.

Sherrod said she had not received an apology from Breitbart and no longer wanted one. "He had to know that he was targeting me," she said.

She faulted the Obama administration for not opening up more areas to oil and gas drilling, particularly in her home state of Alaska.... she said, even if a caribou has to "take one for the team."
"It's 'Drill, Baby, Drill,' not 'Stall, Baby, Stall,'" she said.
Sarah Palin, April 9th, 2010 GOP Southern conference Bobby Jindal was in the audience. less than a month before his state's fisheries, wildlife and citizens would all "take one for the team"

She refused her job back for a reason, might I suggest she was advised that she could make more out of this not employed, than employed...............if I am right and may not be, so much for her "dedication" to serve.

I am dedicated to delivering newspapers but if someone does something to harm me that I can sue for millions of dollars I will relunctantly stop the paper route.

I doubt if Tea Party activist Andrew Breitbart or his wife Susie, the daughter of Orsen Bean, has millions of dollars but it will be instructive to see just how far a blogger can go when intentionally defaming a person.

The court case will be interesting.

He published both her racist comments and her claimed reformation. What people make of that is their business. Additionally, it will only be possible to maintain any damages if she forum shops the case to Washington D.C. or some other similar venue where her people dominate the jury panel. She's proved adept at the jurisprudence jackpot though, so don't bet against her.

Public officials can't easily prevail in defamation/libel or slander cases. I hope she has a very expensive lawyer.
