We just concluded the third fiscal year for the electric cooperative at the cottage.
We have electric resistant heat and maintain heat year round.

The first year was a blind ride--they read the meter in April, one year after we moved in--and coincidentally with their fiscal year end.

Our usage was 16,079 kWh, @ an average cost of $0.134/kWh and $2,149.60.

The 2nd year:

Our usage was 12,027 kWh, @an average cost of $0.138/kWh and $1,663.10.

That was a 22.6% reduction in cost and 25.2% reduction in kWh while we had an increase of 5% in the number of degree days.

That was accomplished by "management"--even to the point of putting power strips on every application where power is consumed even when the device is turned off (ie TV).

This year I added new windows and a sliding glass door in mid-Jan and while that appears to have helped it is too early to try to quantify it.

The occupancy was higher this year and the DD were down by 11.9% YOY.

Our usage was 10,700 kWh, @an average cost of $0.142/kWh and $1,519.76.

YOY that is a cost reduction of $8.6% and usage reduction of 11%

One of the things I did after the first year was to change to a smart meter and I now get a monthly bill with usage and if I ask I can actually get usage by the hour.

At home I can check usage daily on line--but at the cottage the horses run a little slower
